Native American Family Support (NAFS) is a project that uses computer-based training for staff and families working with people with developmental disabilities. Our main focus is on providing information related to schools, but we also offer a lot of helpful suggestions for elders and young adults. HOW TO USE THESE PAGES-- If you are using the NAFS webpages you are either on the Internet or using a CD-ROM. Most things work pretty much the same whichever one you use. If you are not at all used to computers, the information below will help you. Hopping around on the page: To go BACK to a page, click on the back arrow that you see at the top of the computer on the left side.
If you did that, clicked on the left arrow (to go to the page you were first) and then the right arrow (to go to the page where you were next) you should have ended up right back here. If you didn't, well, I guess you are lost and we can't help you. Try it again. Click on the left arrow and then on the right. An easily amused person could do this all day. Whenever text on these pages is highlighted in blue, if you click on it, it will take you to a different page. This is called a LINK. Try clicking on the next sentence to go to the first page on Individual Education Plans (IEPs). You may need to scroll (move with the mouse or arrow keys) down to see the entire page. A WEBSITE is a collection of pages linked together. A WEB BROWSER is a type of software that lets you see web pages. Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, Safari and Camino are some common web browser. The Native American Family Support website is maintained on a server through the Spirit Lake Vocational Rehabilitation Project, which uses the North Dakota Telephone Company for its webhosting services. However, you may not have Internet access, or your Internet access may be very slow because you are dialing up on a regular phone line. To get to the NAFS website, all you need to do is put in the top line of your web browser - www.spiritlakevr.org/NAFS/ A HOME PAGE is the first page you would come to in a website. It is also a common page to link back to. The NAFS home page has an index of all of the topics covered on our website and we update it at least weekly, sometimes daily.
